IV Sedation
No matter how stressed you are about your dental visit, you’ll be relaxed with IV sedation, a modern alternative to general anaesthesia
For some people, a visit to the dentist is cause for major anxiety and fear. But if you’re the kind of person who is frightened of the dentist’s chair, Intravenous (IV) Sedation can help you relax during any procedure. IV sedation, administered by dentist Paul Ewins, is an excellent way to make you feel calmer in a medical environment.
How you’ll feel during and after Intravenous Sedation:
The effects of IV are strong enough to make you feel drowsy and unaware of any treatment, but still responsive enough to cooperate with your dentist.
Once the effects have worn off, you’ll be told how long they’ll take to completely leave your body (please note that you’ll be unable to drive, drink alcohol or use machinery during this time, so we’d recommend securing a driving partner in advance if you have a long journey home).
Most patients will feel drowsy for at least eight hours after IV sedation is administered, and even into the next day too, which is why we recommend spending your next day in comfortable surroundings and not placing any undue stress on yourself.
